Any of yall have birthdays yet while this game has been out? I just had one and it's pretty fun, they do a bit more for you than for villager birthdays. And Kyle was the one behind mine which made me very happy

I had one pretty much right after the game was released. It was fun, but it was before I unlocked KK so I couldn't get the damn song...

I've had gray hair since I was like 14.

Normally it isn't that noticeable, but thanks to the quarantine I've let my hair grow out a ton and now I has this giant gray area right in front for everyone to see. Woo.

I somehow lost all my gold nuggets and I don't know how.

They only thing I can think of is that when I was trying to give my friend one gold nugget I may have accidentally gave her the entire stack instead. But I really don't know.

Civ games, and 4x games in general, aren't fun per se.

They give you that feeling of "five turns from now is gonna be really fun!", but you never actually get there

The genre's all about anticipation of progress

Lies. When you finally get your engine going and are raking in money/science/etc. that feeling is better than drugs.

I would highly recommend setting the difficulty to a lower level and then work your way up. This may sound wrong if you're like me and don't like the idea of taking things easy, but it does take a few games before you really "get" how the game elements work, and before then you're simply not on equal footing with the AI. Additionally, the "normal" difficulty isn't actually normally balanced, it's still in favor of the computer by a slight bit.

As you play more you'll get better and understand more about the gameplay and will be better prepared to take on the higher difficulty levels. But in my personal experience if you try to tough it out without knowing what you're doing you only end up feeling disappointed as you finish a 4+ hour game that you had absolutely no hope of winning from the very beginning because of things you didn't quite understand.

Well, to be fair, if the idea is to support the value of patience, then letting people just visit a lot of other people's islands and be done with it is the opposite of that. >_>

I mean, if it was like Celeste or Redd in that you could only get one a day then that would be a nice middle ground.

I mean, you have to put in some limits to promote longevity. Traveling to other people's island wouldn't be fun if everybody got everything in the first few weeks. But having that minor "you get another shot at it today by visiting a friend" trait to things helps gives more value towards making friends and visiting them. I don't why they dropped the ball on this specific instance, when stuff like the other visitors, the Able Sisters, etc. work better like this.

I don't understand why this isn't the case. It seems like a lot of NPCs have that value of having something to offer visitors to your island. Having this be the way to get around the restriction of one commission per visit would be perfect. I feel like the only reason why they give you that limit in the first place is to support the values of patience and communication the series is based on, so why it doesn't work for the latter is puzzling.
